The downside of this forum is that one does not get an alert if something is posted. One has to remember to check regularly in order to find out if anyone has written on here. I fear people will just forget out this forum. :-( Let me know if it is possible to set up e-mail alerts or the like. Thank you!

Google grupos sounds good. What about WhatsApp group? I think WhatsApp would be more instantaneous but I understand that people probably won't want to share their phone number with the rest without having met in person.
